Announcements for the 2022 PC Science Olympiad.

Check this page regularly for updates, as all updates and information are posted here for team coach's. Announcements will NOT be emailed. It is the responsibility of the coach to check for updates and information.

Mar 10, 2022: We wish all of our top 8 schools good luck at the State final.

Mar 10, 2022: Medals to SChools who did not attend the awards have been mailed to the addresses provided.

Mar 08, 2022: Please complete the evaluation form and send it mhollier@gsu.edu . We really need these completed to be able to make improvements and be able to use as support for hosting future events.

Mar 08, 2022: Most Head Coach's are now able to view the results online. Thank you to the State Director for fixing whatever issue it was. When you log in to the SciLympiad site, click on the "Tournament" tab at the top, then click on "Tournament Results".

Mar 07, 2022: Several Head Coach's have reported that they are unable to view the results on the SciLympiad site. I have contacted the State Director (Scott Cole), who has checked the site but couldn't find any issue (meaning the results should be viewable). I have asked some Head Coach's to contact Scott so we can try and resolve this issue ASAP. Hopefully they will be available soon.

Mar 06, 2022: We would like to thank all of our event supervisors, co-tournament directors, and volunteers for putting together another successful event. We would not be able to have such an incredible event without them.

Mar 06, 2022: We would appreciate if Head Coach's could complete the evaluation form and email it to mhollier@gsu.edu .

Mar 06, 2022: Results for the Perimeter College, Georgia State University Regional C event are posted here for the top 8 schools going to the State final. Results for individual events are available to Head Coach's on the SciLympiad website.

Mar 06, 2022: A list of student volunteers has been posted in the iColelge site for faculty to review to see if their students attended.

Mar 04, 2022: Signups are finalized and viewable within the SciLympiad site and/or on our signup page.

Mar 03, 2022: When you come, please plan to park in Student Lot #6 (near Buildings “CG and CB"). This lot can be accessed from Memorial Drive (there is a sign, but it may be easily overlooked) or Lots #4 and 5 near building CF (off of Memorial College Drive).

Mar 01, 2022: Schedule listing room locations is now available.

Feb 26, 2022: Reminder that the Sign-up windows closes on 03/01/22 at 11:59pm. Make sure all of your teams are signed up for every signle event you will be participating in.

Feb 26, 2022: Information on the quiz bowl has been updated.

Feb 26, 2022: Final reminder emails to Head Coach's regarding issues with their team forms have been sent to their registered email addresses. A final deadline of 03/01/22 at 11:59pm has been given. After that date, any competitors with missing forms will not be allowed to attend our event or come on to cmapus. If your entire team is missing the signature pages, this means your entire team cannot attend. If only one competitor has missing forms, then only that one competitor cannot attend. It takes just one incomplete / missing form for an individual competitor to be unable to attend. All forms for each competitor must be correctly completed and submitted. We cannot take any forms on the day, they must be sent by the final deadline so we can verify them before any competitors arrive on campus.

Feb 26, 2022: We would like to thank all Head Coach's who have correctly subnmitted their team forms. We appreciate the timely fixing of issues by Head Coach's who did have issues and corrected them.

Feb 24, 2022: Reminders to Head Coach's for issues with their Team forms that have not been fixed have been sent to their regitered email addresses. Please check your email to see if you received an email. The email details what needs to be fixed. Team Coach's who sent files without issues or have fixed the issues have also been emailed over the past few days confirming your Team forms were present and correct.

Feb 20, 2022: We have emailed Team Coach's (9 Team Coach's out of 14 Team Coach's attending our Regional event) to fix issues with the Team Forms. Specific problems are detailed in the email sent to individual Team Coach's today. The due date for fixing these problems is 02/25/22 at 11:59pm. The new forms need to be uploaded on the SciLympiad site and the Team Coach needs to send Mark Hollier ( mhollier@gsu.edu ) an email letting him know the updated forms have been uploaded on the SciLympiad site.

Feb 19, 2022: We are still processing team forms and emailing Team Coach's if there are problems that need to be fixed. This is a time consuming process and takes us several days to complete. An update will be posted when this process is completed for all schools.

Feb 19, 2022: Changes to the Team forms page have been made. The forms and information itself has not changed. However, information relating to the Minors on Campus policy at GSU has been moved to its own page to make the Team forms page shorter and more focused.

Feb 19, 2022: To try and make it easier for Team Coaches, we would like feedback about a new way to have you organize the team forms. Next year (not this year!), we thought the new format shown here would be easier. Please email Mark hollier ( mhollier@gsu.edu ) with your thoughts to whether this is a better format. We will review feedback before implmenting this for next year and go with a consensus from team coach's. We hope this new format makes it easier for Team Coach's to collect the forms from competitors, organize them so they know who they have received the forms from, easier to submit files, and easier to adjust your team at a late time if needed.

Feb 16, 2022: When we have processed a Schools files, a confirmation will be emailed to the Head Coach confirming receipt of the files or a list of errors that need to be fixed with the files. Reviewing these files takes time, which is why we have a due date for them so that we can process the forms and give Head Coaches time ro fix problems before the tournament day.

Feb 16, 2022: For each form, please print the student name at the top of the first page (so it is clearly readable). If you have already uploaded your forms, I will email you with page nubmers for which forms I cannot read when I have processed them. The Rules for Minors form does not have a regular part for printing the student name, which is the one I am struggling with the most to verify. If you have already uploaded your forms, please print names on the top of the rules for minors page for each student and reupload just that one file on the SciLympiad site.

Feb 16, 2022: When combining the forms together, make sure that you include all pages of each form for each student one after another. For example, for student, you need the first page and second page one after another, then the first page and the second for the next stduent.

Feb 15, 2022: The issue with uploading the team forms on the SciLympiad site should have been fixed. When you log into the SciLympiad site, go to Coaches' Dashboard and click on the button that says upload documents. You should then be able to upload the documents to the site.

Feb 14, 2022: We will not be running any trial events at our Regional event.

Feb 14, 2022: A few team coaches have indicated that they are struggling to uplaod the required team forms to the SciLympiad website. The reason for uplaoding them is to prevent documents with potentially sensitive information going through email servers and exceeding any attachment limits your school systems may have. I have contacted Scott Cole to get directions for how team coaches upload these files onto the SciLympiad website. I will post a further update when I have an answer. My contingency plan is to accept these by email, which will work, but is not ideal.

Feb 14, 2022: It is recommended that competitors wear a lab coat for the Chem Lab event as they will be working with a chemical that could stain clothes.

Feb 10, 2022: Another reminder that team forms are due by 02/17/22. These should be uplaoded on the SciLympiad site. The forms, and directions to how to organize them, are on the Team forms page. The reason for uploading the forms to the SciLympiad site is to prevent them being stored on email servers when they contain personal information. If you have issues uploading the forms, please contact the State Director (Scott Cole) and CC Mark Hollier on the email.

Feb 10, 2022: Georgia State University does not have any specific COVID requirements and/or reguations beyond strongly recommending face masks and vaccinations. As a public higher education institute in the University System of Georgia, GSU must follow Board of Regents regulations relating to COVID. The Board of Regents has directed all USG institutes that they cannot require either face masks and/or vaccinations for anyone coming onto USG campuses. If you disagree with this policy, then you are welcome to contact your State of Georgia Represetnatives, Senators, Governor, and the Board of Regents to voice your concerns. There is nothing we can do to change the situation for our Regional event.

Feb 07, 2022: A reminder that team forms need to be uploaded to the SciLympiad site. The team forms required by GSU are available on the Teram forms page, with explanations for the format of the files to upload. They are due 02/17/22. You will need to complete both roster files (one is for us and one is for the State Director).

Feb 02, 2022: As a reminder, the signup for all events will start tonight at 7pm. Sign-up will close on 03/01/22 at 11:59pm. You will use the SciLympiad site to signup. Information about signing up is on our Sign-up for events page.

Feb 02, 2022: As a reminder, please start collecting and sorting the required forms to be able to compete at our location. The forms, and information about them, are located on the Team forms page.

Jan 22, 2022: A second school roster form has been added to the documents that must be completed. The two school roster forms are located on the Team forms page. One roster file is for GSU purposes for checking that all forms required by GSU per student have been submitted. The other roster file is to collect demographic data of teams for the State Director (one file per team).

Jan 22.2022: Reminder that you need to submit forms signed by aprents / legal guardians for any student that will be a team. Information on this is located on the Team forms page.

Jan 22, 2022: A new email was sent out to all team coaches as team registrations have been updated. Newly registered teams should read over all announcements so far.

Jan 21, 2022: All events require team coaches to sign-up their teams to the same time slot. More information about the sign-ups is available on the sign-up for events page.

Jan 21, 2022: Updated the FAQs page to correctly identify all events as being sign-up events.

Jan 12, 2022: New policy relating to supervision of competitors and personal items has been added to the written policies page.

Jan 09, 2022: If schools know they will not be bringing all the teams they have registered at our event, please contact Mark Hollier ( mhollier@gsu.edu ) and the State Director ( SCole73@forsyth.k12.ga.us ) by email to let us know how many teams you will bring. There are some Schools who would like to attend our event but we have no available slots for them. We cannot exceed the fire and safety regulations for maximum room occupancies in the rooms the events are held in. The only way to add them is if slots become available. The State Director can work with you in regards to payments for the teams you have already made.

Jan 09, 2022: The singup site will be available on February 02, 2022 (02/02/22) at 7:00pm. It will close on March 01, 2022 (03/01/22) at 11:59pm. The signup page has more information that you need to read before the signup period and take into account while signing up. The signup site is the website provided through the State of Georgia Science Olympiad organization for online signup. The login for this site is here. The team swap option is only available during this same time period.

Jan 09. 2022: Final team rosters are due by 03/01/22 at 11:59pm and will be uplaoded on the SciLympiad website. Team forms must have been submited previously for all students on each team on the SciLympiad website. Team forms must be submitted by 02/17/22 (changed from 02/10/22 to 02/17/22 to give you more time to collect, organize, and submit these forms). It is recommended that you submit forms for any possible student who could be on one of your teams. Submitting the forms for a student does not mean you have to list them on a team. But you cannot add someone later to a team for whom we do not have completed forms for.

Jan 09, 2022: The room assignments will be made in late January / early February. Georgia State University will not allow us to book rooms until a couple of weeks after classes have started for the semester. When they are confirmed, the locations will be added to the schedule.

Jan 09. 2022: The deadline for FAQs and Clarifications on rules from team coaches is 02/14/22.

Jan 06, 2022: Welcome email has been sent to team coaches. This will be the only email with information, announcements, etc. sent. Further announcements and any changes to any information will be made through the PC Science Olympiad event website. Checking for announcements, changes, and/or updates is your responsibility. No further emails will be sent for announcements, changes, etc., so please check this website regularly.

Jan 06, 2022: Photographs of the gym are available here. Information relating to electronic devices is here. Information relating to eye protection is here. Information relating to computers at Perimeter College is here. Information on Written Policies used at Perimeter College for our event are here.

Jan 06, 2022: Definitions of electronic devices and calculaotrs is available on the Electronic Devices page. The definitions of calculators on this page will be used for all events according to how it is worded in the event descriptions provided by the National Science Olympiad Organization.

Jan 06, 2022: Check the page for Georgia specific rules and PC specific rules for events. The Perimeter College specific rules will be finalized by early February.

Jan 06, 2022: We are already working hard to prepare for this event, as I am sure you are also. If you know now that you will have any students with physical disabilities, please advise us now before we begin scheduling rooms for the events. Please note that we may not offer all (or any) of the trial events, depending upon the availability of personnel and rooms, since these are not required events. This will be decided as we develop the final schedule and you will be advised of our decision. The rules for the trial events may be found on the national web site.

Jan 06, 2022: Team coaches will need to start to collecting completed forms for each student on their team(s). The forms can be found on the team forms page. These forms will most likely be uplaoded thorugh the SciLympiad website. As this site is still being setup, you won't be able to uplaod them jsut yet. An annoucnement will be posted on this announcement page when you can start uploading the forms. The deadline for submitting these forms is 02/10/22.

Jan 06, 2022: We are sorting through the SciLympiad site setup at the moment. This year we will be using the website provided through the State of Georgia Science Olympiad organization for online signup. A future announcement will be made when the signup release dates are known..

Jan 06, 2022: Tentative schedule is now available on the event information and schedule page.

Jan 06, 2022: Right now, we are planning on scheduling events (including registration) in buildings "N", "C", "D", G (Gym), and the JCLRC (Jim Cherry Learning Resource Center). Building "N" is the Student Center and that is where students will probably want to gather when they are not involved in events. The awards ceremony will most likely be in the Auditorium of the JCLRC (the library). It is a fairly small campus with covered walkways, so we hope that you will be able to navigate the campus easily.
